BLACK

I came upon you from the storm
As I was about to lose my mind, can't take it anymore
I asked you for a small respite
From a life I longed to leave, from the pain that drove me blind

Many, many years ago
I tried to get along but had a fall
The outcome of which rocked my brain
Caused me despair, then hatred turned to
rage
My life became so bitter since
My loves had gone from whole but turned to blue
My bones could not endure the pain
Which drove me down this horrid path of shame

You gave me a new outlook
Gazed ahead at better days
Can my soul really be saved?
Absolving all my sins
And the black will fade away

You started up my soul anew
I adapted to the world I found so cruel
Taught me I can overcome the darkness
My anguish left undone
You saved me from a shallow grave
Giving me a reason to be brave
The black has turned a hazy gray
Because of you, I'll walk again today

You gave me a new outlook
Gazed ahead at better days
Can my soul really be saved?
Absolving all my sins
And the black will fade away
